Chelated Zinc as Zn EDTA 12% Min.:

Chelated Zinc (Zn EDTA 12%) is a premium, fully water-soluble micronutrient fertilizer containing 12% Zinc in a chelated form (Ethylene Diamine Tetra Acetic Acid). Unlike conventional Zinc Sulphate, which reacts with soil phosphates and becomes unavailable (fixed) to plants, this EDTA formulation protects the Zinc ions, ensuring they remain stable and bio-available even in high pH or alkaline soils. It is a free-flowing, micro-granular powder designed for rapid absorption through leaves (foliar spray) and roots (fertigation). It acts as a fast-acting corrector of Zinc deficiencies that cause stunted growth and leaf yellowing.

Mode of Action:

Chelated Zinc functions as a critical physiological activator and enzymatic cofactor:

  • Protection & Stability: The EDTA chelating agent wraps around the Zinc ion, preventing it from reacting with other soil elements like Phosphorus and Calcium. This ensures the Zinc remains soluble and easily absorbable by the plant.

  • Auxin Synthesis: Zinc is crucial for the synthesis of Tryptophan, a precursor to Indole Acetic Acid (IAA)—the primary plant growth hormone (Auxin). This directly regulates stem elongation and leaf expansion.

  • Enzyme Activation: It activates vital metabolic enzymes (such as dehydrogenases and proteinases) required for protein synthesis and carbohydrate metabolism.

  • Chlorophyll Formation: It plays an essential role in chlorophyll production and photosynthesis, maintaining the deep green color of the foliage.

Primary Uses and Target Crops:

This product is essential for crops grown in alkaline, calcareous, or zinc-deficient soils.

Key target crops include:

  • Cereals: Rice (Paddy), Maize, Wheat (Highly effective against Khaira disease in paddy).

  • Fruits: Citrus (controls Little Leaf), Apple (controls Rosetting), Grapes, Pomegranate, Banana, Mango.

  • Vegetables: Tomato, Brinjal, Chili, Potato, Onion, Cucurbits.

  • Commercial Crops: Cotton, Sugarcane, Tobacco.

Application and Dosage:

Chelated Zinc EDTA 12% is highly effective for Foliar Spray and Fertigation.

The recommended dosage is as follows:

  • Foliar Spray: Dissolve 0.5 gm to 1 gm per liter of water.

    • Timing: Apply during active vegetative growth or at the first sign of deficiency symptoms. Repeat after 15 days if necessary.

  • Fertigation (Drip Irrigation): Apply 500 gm per acre.

    • Dissolve in the fertilizer tank. Due to its chelated nature, it does not clog drip emitters.

  • Soil Drenching: Dissolve 200 gm in 200 liters of water and drench near the root zone for fruit trees.

Target Benefits / Deficiency Correction:

This product targets specific physiological disorders caused by zinc deficiency.

Key benefits include:

  • Corrects "Khaira" Disease: Specifically effective in treating Khaira disease in rice (reddish-brown patches on leaves).

  • Treats "Little Leaf": Cures "Little Leaf" disorder in citrus and brinjal, and "Rosetting" (bunching of leaves) in apples.

  • Prevents Interveinal Chlorosis: Eliminates yellowing between leaf veins, restoring greenness and photosynthetic efficiency.

  • Promotes Growth: drastically improves internodal distance (height) and leaf size in stunted plants.

  • Phosphorus Compatibility: Unlike Zinc Sulphate, Zn EDTA is compatible with phosphatic fertilizers in the soil, allowing for better nutrient management.

Safety Precautions:

Standard safety practices for agricultural inputs should be followed.

Key safety recommendations include:

  • Compatibility: It is compatible with most agrochemicals and fertilizers. However, a compatibility jar test is always recommended before tank mixing.

  • Dosage Caution: Zinc is a micronutrient; excessive application can lead to toxicity. Adhere strictly to the recommended dose (do not exceed 1.5g/L).

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Wear gloves and a mask during mixing to avoid inhaling the fine powder.

  • Handling: Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water after use.

Storage:

Store the product in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated place. The powder is hygroscopic (absorbs moisture from the air), so keep the packet/container tightly sealed immediately after use. Keep away from direct sunlight, food, and animal feed. Keep out of reach of children.
