Lambda Cyhalothrin 4.9% CS:

Lambda Cyhalothrin 4.9% CS is a new-generation synthetic pyrethroid insecticide formulated as a Capsule Suspension (CS). This advanced formulation encapsulates the active ingredient in tiny micro-capsules suspended in water. This technology allows for a controlled, slow release of the chemical, providing long-lasting residual activity and rain-fastness. It is a broad-spectrum insecticide known for its rapid "knockdown" effect against a wide range of chewing and sucking pests in various agricultural crops.

Mode of Action:

Lambda Cyhalothrin 4.9% CS functions primarily through contact and stomach action.

  1. Nervous System Disruption: It acts by disrupting the normal functioning of the insect's nervous system. Specifically, it modulates the sodium channels in the nerve cells.

  2. Paralysis: This disruption causes repetitive nerve impulses, leading to hyperexcitation, paralysis, and ultimately the death of the pest.

  3. Encapsulated Release: The CS formulation protects the active ingredient from UV degradation and releases it only when the spray dries on the leaf surface or comes into contact with the pest, ensuring prolonged efficacy.

Primary Uses and Target Crops:

This insecticide is widely used in field crops, vegetables, and fruits to control difficult lepidopteran and sucking pests.

Key target crops include:

  • Fiber Crops: Cotton

  • Cereals: Rice (Paddy)

  • Vegetables: Brinjal (Eggplant), Okra (Bhindi), Tomato, Chili, Cabbage, Cauliflower

  • Fruits: Grapes, Pomegranate, Mango

  • Legumes/Oilseeds: Soybean, Groundnut

Application and Dosage:

Lambda Cyhalothrin 4.9% CS is mixed with water and applied as a foliar spray.

The recommended dosage varies by crop and pest intensity:

  • Cotton: To control Bollworms (American, Pink, Spotted), use 200 to 300 ml per acre.

  • Rice (Paddy): For Stem Borer and Leaf Folder, use 150 to 200 ml per acre.

  • Vegetables (Brinjal/Okra/Tomato): To control Shoot and Fruit Borers, use 150 to 200 ml per acre.

  • Chili: For Thrips and Fruit Borers, use 200 ml per acre.

  • Grapes: For Thrips and Flea Beetles, use 100 to 150 ml per acre.

  • Soybean: For Stem Fly and Semiloopers, use 150 to 200 ml per acre.

  • General Mixing Rate: A common mixing rate is 1 ml to 2 ml per liter of water. Ensure uniform coverage of the plant foliage.

Safety Precautions:

Strict adherence to safety precautions is essential. This product is toxic to bees and aquatic life.

Key safety recommendations include:

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Wear protective clothing, rubber gloves, boots, goggles, and a face mask during mixing and spraying. Avoid skin contact as pyrethroids can cause a temporary tingling or burning sensation.

  • Bee Safety: Do not apply during the active flowering stage or when honeybees are foraging, as it is toxic to pollinators.

  • Handling Practices: Do not eat, drink, or smoke when using the product. Wash hands and exposed skin thoroughly with soap and water after use.

  • Environmental Safety: This product is toxic to fish and aquatic invertebrates. Do not apply directly to water bodies or clean equipment near streams or ponds.
