Carbendazim 46.27% SC:
Carbendazim 46.27% SC is a broad-spectrum, systemic fungicide formulated as a Suspension Concentrate (SC). Belonging to the benzimidazole group, it is highly effective against a wide range of fungal pathogens belonging to Fungi Imperfecti, Ascomycetes, and Basidiomycetes. It acts as both a preventive and curative agent. Being a flowable suspension, it mixes easily with water and is rapidly absorbed by the plant roots and leaves, translocating within the plant system to protect new growth and eliminate established infections.
Mode of Action:
Carbendazim 46.27% SC functions as a Mitosis Inhibitor.
Cell Division Disruption: It works by binding to the tubulin protein and inhibiting the synthesis of beta-tubulin, which is essential for the formation of microtubules. This disrupts nuclear division (mitosis) in the fungal cells.
Growth Inhibition: This interruption prevents the development of germ tubes, the formation of appressoria, and the growth of mycelia, effectively starving the fungus and halting the infection.
Systemic Movement: It is absorbed through the roots and green tissues and moves acropetally (upwards) via the xylem to provide comprehensive internal protection.
Primary Uses and Target Crops:
This fungicide is widely used in cereals, fruits, vegetables, and plantation crops. It is also a popular choice for seed treatment.
Key target crops include:
Cereals: Rice (Paddy), Wheat, Maize
Fruits: Mango, Apple, Grapes, Citrus
Vegetables: Tomato, Brinjal (Eggplant), Cucurbits, Chili, Potato
Fiber Crops: Cotton, Jute
Others: Groundnut, Tea, Tobacco
Application and Dosage:
Carbendazim 46.27% SC is versatile and can be used as a foliar spray, seed treatment, or soil drench.
The recommended dosage varies by application method:
Rice (Paddy): To control Blast and Sheath Blight, use 200 to 250 ml per acre.
Wheat: For Loose Smut control, it is primarily used as a seed treatment. Mix 2 ml per kg of seeds.
Cotton: To control Leaf Spot and Grey Mildew, use 250 ml per acre.
Fruit Crops (Mango/Apple): For Anthracnose and Scab, use 1 to 1.5 ml per liter of water.
Vegetables: For Powdery Mildew and Anthracnose, use 200 to 250 ml per acre.
Seed Treatment: General rate is 2 to 3 ml per kg of seed to protect against soil-borne diseases like seedling blight and root rot.
General Foliar Mixing Rate: A common mixing rate is 1 ml to 1.5 ml per liter of water.
Target Diseases:
This fungicide is effective against a broad spectrum of fungal diseases.
Commonly controlled diseases include:
Blast (Rice)
Sheath Blight (Rice)
Powdery Mildew (Grapes, Vegetables, Ber, Mango)
Anthracnose (Mango, Chili, Cotton)
Loose Smut (Wheat)
Scab (Apple)
Leaf Spot (Cercospora, Septoria)
Fruit Rot
Grey Mildew
