Thiophanate Methyl 70% WP:

Thiophanate Methyl 70% WP is a broad-spectrum, systemic fungicide formulated as a Wettable Powder (WP). Belonging to the benzimidazole group, it offers powerful preventive and curative action against a wide variety of fungal pathogens. Upon application, it is rapidly absorbed by the plant’s leaves and roots and translocated through the xylem, ensuring comprehensive protection for the entire plant, including new growth.

Mode of Action:

Thiophanate Methyl 70% WP functions as a systemic fungicide with a specific mechanism of action:

  1. Mitosis Inhibition: It works by interfering with the cell division process (mitosis) of the fungus. Specifically, it binds to tubulin proteins, preventing the formation of microtubules required for cell separation.

  2. Systemic & Curative: Because it is absorbed into the plant system, it can cure existing infections by stopping the growth of fungal mycelium inside plant tissues, while also providing a protective shield against new infections.

Primary Uses and Target Crops:

This fungicide is widely used in agriculture, horticulture, and floriculture to protect crops from soil-borne and air-borne diseases.

Key target crops include:

  • Seedling Dip: Dip the roots of seedlings in a solution of 1.5 grams per liter of water before transplanting.
