Cartap Hydrochloride 75% SG:

Cartap Hydrochloride 75% SG is a high-potency, systemic insecticide formulated as Soluble Granules (SG). Belonging to the Nereistoxin analogue group, it is an advanced "dust-free" formulation that dissolves rapidly in water, ensuring ease of application and better absorption. It is specifically designed for the effective control of chewing and boring pests, particularly in Rice (Paddy). Its strong contact, stomach, and translaminar action allows it to control pests at all stages of their life cycle, including those hiding inside the stem or leaves.

Mode of Action:

Cartap Hydrochloride 75% SG functions by targeting the insect's nervous system:

  1. Nereistoxin Analogue: It acts as a potent blocker of the nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChR) at the nerve synapses.

  2. Paralysis: By blocking these receptors, it inhibits the transmission of nerve impulses. This leads to an immediate cessation of feeding, followed by paralysis and the eventual death of the pest.

  3. Systemic Action: Being systemic, it is absorbed by the plant and translocated to new growth, providing long-lasting protection against internal borers.

Primary Uses and Target Crops:

This formulation is primarily recommended for use in Rice (Paddy) but is also effective in other crops where stem borers are a threat.

Key target crops include:

  • Cereals: Rice (Paddy)

  • Vegetables: Brinjal (Eggplant), Cabbage, Cauliflower (specifically for Diamondback Moth and borers)

Application and Dosage:

Cartap Hydrochloride 75% SG is mixed with water and applied as a foliar spray.

The recommended dosage varies by crop and pest density:

  • Rice (Paddy): To control Yellow Stem Borer and Leaf Folder, use 170 to 200 grams per acre.

  • Vegetables: For Diamondback Moth (DBM) and Shoot Borers, use 170 to 200 grams per acre.

  • General Mixing Rate: A common mixing rate is 1 gram to 1.5 grams per liter of water. Ensure the granules are completely dissolved before spraying.

Target Pests:

This insecticide is highly specialized for the control of lepidopteran borers and leaf-feeding caterpillars.

Commonly controlled pests include:

  • Yellow Stem Borer (Rice)

  • Rice Leaf Folder

  • Whorl Maggot

  • Diamondback Moth (DBM)

  • Shoot and Fruit Borer
