Cartap Hydrochloride 50% SP:
Cartap Hydrochloride 50% SP is a broad-spectrum, systemic insecticide formulated as a Soluble Powder (SP). Derived from Nereistoxin, it is highly effective against both chewing and sucking pests in a wide range of agricultural crops. Its systemic nature allows it to be absorbed and translocated within the plant, providing effective control against pests that feed on foliage, as well as those that bore into stems.
Mode of Action:
Cartap Hydrochloride 50% SP functions primarily through stomach action, with some contact activity. Its mode of action involves blocking the nerve transmission at the synaptic junctions (specifically as a nicotinic acetylcholine receptor antagonist). Once the insect ingests the treated plant tissue or comes into contact with the chemical, it effectively stops feeding immediately. This leads to paralysis, starvation, and eventually the death of the pest. Its systemic properties make it particularly useful for controlling hidden pests like stem borers and leaf folders.
Primary Uses and Target Crops:
This insecticide is widely used to protect crops from damaging boring, chewing, and sucking insects.
Key target crops include:
Rice (Paddy)
Sugarcane
Vegetables (e.g., Brinjal/Eggplant, Cabbage, Cauliflower, Potato)
Tea
Groundnut
Application and Dosage:
Cartap Hydrochloride 50% SP is mixed with water and applied as a foliar spray. For optimal results, application should ensure thorough coverage of the plant foliage.
The recommended dosage varies depending on the crop and target pest:
Rice: To control major pests like Yellow Stem Borer and Leaf Folder, a dosage of 400 grams per acre is recommended.
Vegetables (Cabbage/Cauliflower): For Diamondback Moth (DBM), a dosage of 400 to 500 grams per acre is effective.
General Application: A common mixing rate is 1 to 2 grams per liter of water depending on the severity of the infestation. It is crucial to dissolve the soluble powder completely in water before spraying.
Target Pests:
This insecticide is effective against a specific spectrum of sucking, chewing, and boring pests.
Commonly controlled pests include:
Stem Borers (Yellow, Pink)
Rice Leaf Folder
Diamondback Moth (DBM)
Shoot and Fruit Borers
Aphids
Whiteflies
Thrips
Leaf Miners
