Pyriproxyfen 8% + Diafenthiuron 30% SE:
Pyriproxyfen 8% + Diafenthiuron 30% SE is a unique, dual-action insecticide and acaricide formulated as a Suspo-Emulsion (SE). This ready-mix combination offers a powerful "one-shot" solution for sucking pests, particularly Whiteflies, by attacking them at all life stages (eggs, nymphs, and adults). It combines the rapid knockdown effect of Diafenthiuron with the long-term lifecycle disruption of Pyriproxyfen, providing extended residual control and helping to manage resistance issues effectively.
Mode of Action:
This product employs a synergistic double mode of action:
Energy Disruption (Diafenthiuron): It acts through contact, stomach, and vapor action. It inhibits oxidative phosphorylation in the pest's mitochondria, effectively cutting off ATP production (energy supply). This leads to paralysis and rapid death. Its translaminar activity ensures control of pests hiding on the underside of leaves.
Growth Regulation (Pyriproxyfen): As an Insect Growth Regulator (IGR), it mimics the juvenile hormone. It suppresses embryogenesis (preventing egg hatching), inhibits metamorphosis (stopping nymphs from becoming adults), and causes sterility in adults, thereby breaking the pest's reproductive cycle.
Primary Uses and Target Crops:
This insecticide is widely used in commercial and vegetable crops to control tough sucking pests and mites.
Key target crops include:
Fiber Crops: Cotton
Vegetables: Chili, Tomato, Brinjal (Eggplant), Okra
Fruits: Watermelon, Cucurbits
Application and Dosage:
Pyriproxyfen 8% + Diafenthiuron 30% SE is mixed with water and applied as a foliar spray. Thorough coverage of the plant canopy is essential for best results.
The recommended dosage varies by crop:
Cotton: To control Whiteflies (all stages), Thrips, Aphids, and Jassids, use 400 to 500 ml per acre.
Chili: For the control of Whiteflies and Mites (Yellow Mite), use 400 to 500 ml per acre.
Tomato: For Whitefly and Mite control, use 400 to 500 ml per acre.
General Mixing Rate: A common mixing rate is 2 to 2.5 ml per liter of water. Ensure the SE formulation is well-agitated and dispersed in the water before spraying.
Target Pests:
This insecticide is highly effective against a specific range of sucking pests and mites.
Commonly controlled pests include:
Whiteflies (Bemisia tabaci) - Controls Eggs, Nymphs, and Adults
Mites (Red Spider Mite, Yellow Mite)
Aphids
Jassids
Thrips
Safety Precautions:
Strict adherence to safety precautions is essential. This product is toxic to aquatic organisms and bees.
Key safety recommendations include:
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Wear protective clothing, chemical-resistant gloves, boots, and a face mask/goggles during mixing and spraying to avoid inhalation and skin contact.
Bee Safety: Do not apply when honeybees are actively foraging (blooming period), as it is toxic to pollinators.
Handling Practices: Do not eat, drink, or smoke when using the product. Wash hands and exposed skin thoroughly with soap and water after use.
Environmental Safety: This product is toxic to fish and aquatic invertebrates. Do not apply directly to water bodies or allow runoff into fish ponds.
Storage:
Store the product in its original container in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated place, away from direct sunlight, moisture, food, and animal feed. Keep out of reach of children and uninformed persons.
