Nutrient Mobilizing Mycorrhiza (VAM):
Nutrient Mobilizing Mycorrhiza is a premium biological fertilizer containing highly active propagules of Vesicular Arbuscular Mycorrhiza (VAM), primarily Glomus species. This bio-stimulant is designed to establish a powerful symbiotic association with plant roots. Unlike standard chemical fertilizers that only sit in the soil, Mycorrhiza acts as a living root extender. It consists of fungal hyphae that penetrate the root cells and spread far into the surrounding soil, effectively increasing the root surface area by up to 100 times. It is specifically formulated to mobilize immobile nutrients—particularly Phosphorus, Zinc, and Copper—that are locked in the soil and unavailable to the plant.
Mode of Action:
Mycorrhiza functions as a biological extension of the plant's root system through specific mechanisms:
Symbiotic Network: The fungal hyphae penetrate the plant roots and form an extensive underground network (mycelium). This network acts as a secondary root system, reaching into soil micropores that ordinary plant roots cannot access.
Nutrient Mobilization: The fungus releases specific enzymes and organic acids that solubilize "fixed" or insoluble Phosphorus and other micronutrients (Zinc, Magnesium, Calcium) in the soil, transporting them directly into the plant root.
Glomalin Production: It produces a glycoprotein called Glomalin, which binds soil particles together. This improves soil structure, aeration, and water-holding capacity.
Barrier Protection: The dense hyphal network forms a physical shield around the roots, offering protection against soil-borne pathogens and nematodes.
Primary Uses and Target Crops:
This product is universally beneficial for almost all crop types, particularly for establishing new plantations and improving nutrient uptake in poor soils.
Key target crops include:
Commercial Crops: Cotton, Sugarcane, Maize, Soybean
Fruit Crops: Banana, Papaya, Citrus, Pomegranate, Grapes, Mango
Vegetables: Tomato, Potato, Chili, Onion, Brinjal, Cucurbits
Plantation Crops: Tea, Coffee, Cardamom, Rubber, Coconut
Nursery & Turfs: Seedlings, Lawns, and Landscape plants
Application and Dosage:
Nutrient Mobilizing Mycorrhiza is strictly for soil application (it must come into contact with roots). It is suitable for Drip Irrigation, Soil Drenching, or Broadcasting.
The recommended dosage is as follows:
Soil Application (Granules/Powder): 4 kg per acre.
Mix with compost, FYM (Farm Yard Manure), or sand and broadcast uniformly near the root zone.
Fertigation (Drip): 250 gm to 500 gm per acre (if using water-soluble powder formulation).
Ensure the product is fully suspended in water before running through the venturi.
Seedling/Nursery Treatment: Mix 10 gm per liter of water and dip the roots of seedlings for 15-30 minutes before transplanting.
Seed Treatment: Coat seeds with a paste made of 5-10 gm per kg of seeds using a sticking agent (like jaggery water).
Target Benefits / Deficiency Correction:
This product targets nutrient lock-up and abiotic stress in plants.
Key benefits include:
Phosphorus Uplift: drastically improves the uptake of native soil phosphorus, reducing the dependency on phosphatic fertilizers (DAP/SSP) by 20-25%.
Drought Resistance: The extended hyphal network accesses water from deep soil layers, helping crops survive dry spells and drought conditions.
Transplant Success: Significantly reduces transplant shock in nurseries and seedlings, ensuring higher survival rates.
Root Mass Expansion: Promotes vigorous root development and vegetative growth.
Soil Health: Increases beneficial microbial activity and improves the physical texture of the soil.
Safety Precautions:
Since this is a live biological product, specific care must be taken during handling.
Key safety recommendations include:
Chemical Compatibility: Do not mix with chemical fungicides. Fungicides will kill the mycorrhizal spores. If a fungicide is needed, apply it 5-7 days before or after the Mycorrhiza application.
Soil Moisture: Ensure sufficient moisture is present in the soil at the time of application to help the spores germinate and colonize the roots.
Handling: Wash hands with soap and water after handling.
PPE: Wear a mask to avoid inhaling dust during broadcasting.
Storage:
Store the product in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated place away from heat sources. Do not expose to direct sunlight or temperatures above 35°C, as high heat can deactivate the living spores. Keep the packet tightly sealed to prevent moisture ingress. Use the entire packet once opened if possible.
