Gibberellic Acid 0.001% L:
Gibberellic Acid 0.001% L is a highly effective, liquid-based Plant Growth Regulator (PGR). It acts as a metabolic enhancer that stimulates and regulates plant growth. Containing Gibberellic Acid (GA3), a naturally occurring plant hormone, this formulation is designed to boost the physiological efficiency of crops. It aids in overcoming dormancy, promoting cell elongation, reducing flower and fruit drop, and ultimately increasing the size and quality of the produce. It is widely used to maximize yield in cereals, cash crops, fruits, and vegetables.
Mode of Action:
Gibberellic Acid 0.001% L functions as a physiological activator:
Cell Elongation & Division: It stimulates rapid cell division and elongation in the plant's stems and leaves, leading to increased plant height and foliage area.
Metabolic Boost: It enhances the synthesis of hydrolytic enzymes (like alpha-amylase), which break down stored starch into sugars. This provides the energy required for rapid vegetative growth and grain filling.
Dormancy Breaking: It helps in breaking seed and bud dormancy, ensuring uniform and early germination.
Primary Uses and Target Crops:
This PGR is used across a wide variety of crops to enhance growth parameters and yield.
Key target crops include:
Cereals: Rice (Paddy), Wheat
Commercial Crops: Sugarcane, Cotton
Legumes/Oilseeds: Groundnut, Soybean
Fruits: Grapes, Banana, Citrus
Vegetables: Tomato, Brinjal (Eggplant), Cabbage, Cauliflower
Application and Dosage:
Gibberellic Acid 0.001% L is mixed with water and applied as a foliar spray. Thorough coverage of the plant is necessary for absorption.
The recommended dosage varies by crop and growth stage:
Rice (Paddy): To improve panicle exertion, grain filling, and tillering, use 180 to 200 ml per acre.
Timing: Apply at the panicle initiation/milking stage.
Sugarcane: To increase internode length (height) and sugar recovery, use 250 to 300 ml per acre.
Timing: Apply 45–90 days after planting.
Cotton: To reduce flower/boll drop and improve fiber quality, use 200 to 250 ml per acre.
Groundnut: To improve pod filling and vegetative growth, use 200 to 250 ml per acre.
Vegetables/Fruits: Use 1.5 ml to 2 ml per liter of water (approx. 250–300 ml per acre).
General Mixing Rate: A common mixing rate is 1 ml to 2 ml per liter of water.
Target Benefits:
Unlike pesticides, this product targets plant physiology to improve yield and quality.
Key benefits include:
Yield Increase: Increases the size, weight, and number of fruits/grains.
Internode Elongation: Significantly increases the height and weight of sugarcane stalks.
Fruit Quality: Improves the size, color, and cluster length in grapes (berry elongation).
Dormancy Breaking: Ensures uniform germination in seeds and tubers.
Stress Recovery: Helps plants recover from stress caused by weather or pesticide shock.
Reduced Drop: Minimizes flower and fruit abortion.
Safety Precautions:
While it is a growth regulator and relatively safe, standard precautions apply.
Key safety recommendations include:
Dosage Precision: Do not overdose. Excessive application can cause weak, spindly stems or excessive vegetative growth at the expense of fruit.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Wear protective clothing, gloves, and a mask during spraying.
Handling Practices: Do not eat, drink, or smoke when using the product. Wash hands thoroughly after use.
Mixing: Do not mix with highly alkaline pesticides (like Bordeaux mixture). Use the solution immediately after preparation.
Storage:
Store the product in its original container in a cool, dry, and dark place. Gibberellic Acid degrades in heat and light, so protect it from direct sunlight and high temperatures. Keep out of reach of children and uninformed persons.
