Dinotefuran 20% w/w SG:
Dinotefuran 20% w/w SG is a third-generation, broad-spectrum neonicotinoid insecticide formulated as Soluble Granules (SG). It is highly regarded for its superior solubility and rapid systemic action. This formulation is specifically developed to control sucking pests in various crops, with a particular emphasis on Rice (Paddy). It is known for its "Quick Knockdown" effect, stopping pests from feeding almost immediately upon exposure. Its translaminar activity allows it to penetrate leaf tissues, effectively reaching pests hidden on the underside of leaves.
Mode of Action:
Dinotefuran 20% SG functions through contact, ingestion, and systemic action.
Nerve Receptor Agonist: It acts as an agonist to the nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChR) in the insect's central nervous system.
Rapid Paralysis: It disrupts the insect's nervous system much faster than earlier neonicotinoids, causing continuous excitation, paralysis, and rapid cessation of feeding.
Systemic & Translaminar: Upon application, the soluble granules dissolve quickly and are absorbed by the plant. The active ingredient moves systemically (through the xylem) and via translaminar movement (across the leaf surface), ensuring comprehensive protection against hidden pests.
Primary Uses and Target Crops:
This insecticide is a premier choice for managing sucking pests, particularly hopper complexes in rice and sucking pests in fiber and vegetable crops.
Key target crops include:
Cereals: Rice (Paddy)
Fiber Crops: Cotton
Vegetables: Okra (Bhindi), Chili, Cabbage, Cauliflower
Fruits: Mango, Melons
Application and Dosage:
Dinotefuran 20% SG is mixed with water and applied as a foliar spray. It dissolves easily without leaving residue.
The recommended dosage varies by crop and pest density:
Rice (Paddy): To control Brown Plant Hopper (BPH), White Backed Plant Hopper (WBPH), and Green Leaf Hopper (GLH), use 60 to 80 grams per acre.
Cotton: For Aphids, Jassids, Thrips, and Whiteflies, use 50 to 60 grams per acre.
Vegetables: For sucking pests like Aphids and Whiteflies, use 50 to 60 grams per acre.
General Mixing Rate: A common mixing rate is 0.3 to 0.5 grams per liter of water. Ensure the spray covers the entire plant canopy for maximum efficacy.
Target Pests:
This insecticide is highly specialized for the control of hemipteran pests (sucking insects).
Commonly controlled pests include:
Brown Plant Hopper (BPH)
White Backed Plant Hopper (WBPH)
Green Leaf Hopper (GLH)
Aphids
Jassids
Whiteflies
Thrips
Leaf Miners
Safety Precautions:
Strict adherence to safety precautions is essential. Like other neonicotinoids, it is toxic to bees.
Key safety recommendations include:
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Wear protective clothing, rubber gloves, boots, and a face mask/goggles during mixing and spraying.
Bee Safety: This product is toxic to honeybees. Do not apply during the active flowering stage or when bees are foraging.
Handling Practices: Do not eat, drink, or smoke when using the product. Wash hands and exposed skin thoroughly with soap and water after use.
Environmental Safety: Do not contaminate water bodies, ponds, or irrigation ditches.
Storage:
Store the product in its original container in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated place, away from direct sunlight, moisture, food, and animal feed. Keep out of reach of children and uninformed persons.
