Emamectin Benzoate 1.5% + Fipronil 3.5% SC:

Emamectin Benzoate 1.5% + Fipronil 3.5% SC is a powerful, broad-spectrum insecticide formulation containing two distinct active ingredients. Unlike single-molecule insecticides, this Suspension Concentrate (SC) offers a synergistic effect, combining the contact and stomach action of Fipronil with the translaminar potency of Emamectin Benzoate. It is highly effective against complex pest scenarios involving both chewing (caterpillars) and sucking pests (thrips/aphids). The SC formulation ensures uniform suspension in water, providing excellent leaf coverage and rain fastness for prolonged protection.

Mode of Action:

Emamectin Benzoate 1.5% + Fipronil 3.5% SC functions as a dual-action neurotoxin that disrupts the pest's nervous system:

  • Dual Mechanism: Fipronil acts by blocking the GABA-gated chloride channels in the central nervous system. Simultaneously, Emamectin Benzoate stimulates high-affinity GABA receptors and increases chloride ion flux. This double attack prevents the pest from developing resistance easily.

  • Translaminar Action: The Emamectin component penetrates the leaf tissues (translaminar activity), creating a reservoir of active ingredient inside the leaf. This effectively controls pests like leaf miners and caterpillars feeding on the underside of leaves.

  • Stomach and Contact Action: Pests are affected immediately upon contact with the spray or by ingesting treated foliage.

  • Cessation of Feeding: Once exposed, the larvae and insects become paralyzed, stop feeding immediately, and die within 2 to 4 days, preventing further crop damage.

Primary Uses and Target Crops:

This insecticide is essential for crops facing simultaneous attacks from lepidopteran pests (worms/borers) and sucking pests.

Key target crops include:

  • Vegetables: Chilli, Okra (Bhindi), Tomato, Brinjal, Cabbage, Cauliflower

  • Legumes: Pigeon Pea (Red Gram), Chickpea, Soybean

  • Commercial Crops: Cotton

  • Cereal: Maize (Corn)

Application and Dosage:

Emamectin Benzoate 1.5% + Fipronil 3.5% SC is primarily designed for Foliar Spray application.

The recommended dosage varies by crop canopy and pest density:

  • Foliar Spray: Dissolve 2 to 2.5 ml per liter of water.

    • Vegetables (Chilli/Tomato): Apply at the first sign of thrips or fruit borer infestation.

    • Cotton/Commercial: Apply during the vegetative and boll formation stages when pest pressure is visible.

  • General Mixing Rate: A standard foliar dose is 350 to 400 ml per acre in sufficient water (approx. 150-200 liters of water per acre).

Target Benefits / Pest Solutions:

This product targets specific complex pest infestations that single-chemical products may miss.

Key benefits include:

  • Broad Spectrum Control: Effectively controls Thrips, Fruit Borers, Pod Borers, and Diamondback Moth (DBM) simultaneously.

  • Phytotonic Effect: Fipronil is known to provide a "greening effect," enhancing plant growth and vigor, resulting in higher yields.

  • Quick Knockdown: Provides rapid control of mobile pests like thrips while ensuring long-term protection against borers.

  • Translaminar Protection: Kills pests hiding on the lower surface of the leaves which are usually difficult to reach with contact sprays.

  • Cost Effective: Reduces the need for tank-mixing multiple insecticides, saving labor and input costs.

Safety Precautions:

Standard safety practices for chemical pesticides should be followed strictly.

Key safety recommendations include:

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Wear protective clothing, gloves, masks, and safety goggles to prevent skin contact and inhalation of spray mist.

  • Pre-Harvest Interval (PHI): Stop application at least 7 to 10 days before harvest to ensure produce safety.

  • Mixing: Do not mix with highly alkaline compounds (like Bordeaux mixture) as it may reduce efficacy.

  • Handling Practices: Wash hands and exposed skin thoroughly with soap and water after use. Do not eat, drink, or smoke while handling the product.

  • Environmental Safety: Toxic to aquatic life and honeybees; avoid spraying near water bodies or during active bee foraging times.

Storage:

Store the product in its original container in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated place, under lock and key. Keep the bottle tightly capped when not in use. Keep away from direct sunlight, food, and animal feed. Keep out of reach of children.
